Mickey Rourke Loses Love of his Life.
The star of one of the best films (if not the best) of 2008, Mickey Rourke, is grieving the loss of one of his best friends and whom he called the “love of my life.” Loki, Rourke’s 18-year-old canine companion passed away on Monday. Rourke recently won the Golden Globe Best Actor award for The Wrestler mentioned Loki in most touching speech of the night:
“I’d like to thank all my dogs, the ones who are here and the ones who aren’t here anymore.” “Sometimes, when a man is alone, that’s all you got is your dog. And they’ve meant the world to me.”Despite being the classic tough guy, Rorke is a major advocate for spaying and neutering your companion animals and not buying from breeders. Millions of animals are sold in pet stores that have been supplied by breeders who are cruel and inhumane. When dogs and cats are not spayed or neutered they can contribute to overpopulation where millions of animals are euthanized because they have no one to properly care for them.
