The Rebirth of McCruel.

Nine years after PETA suspended its battle with McDonald’s, the animal rights organization has relaunched its campaign against the fast food giant to hopefully ease the suffering of millions of chickens. PETA has a great new website for the McCruelty campaign for everyone interested in helping out or just wanting to know more.
PETA is calling on McDonald’s to adopt Controlled Atmosphere Killing (CAK) as a method for murdering millions of chicken a year. CAK has been shown to be a more humane form of murder than the current system where birds are shocked and often scalded alive.
The implementation of CAK in McDonald’s supply chain is a minor step for the company to take but an important one. PETA is not calling for the total destruction of McDonald’s Corp. only a small change to slaughter technique.
Even though it’s not as extreme as I would like it, the McCruelty campaign will no doubt inject more life into the animal rights movement and mobilize people who may have never considered the welfare of animals.
