Animal Activists Firebomb McDonalds.

Animal rights campaigners from the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) have claimed responsibility for the firebombing of an empty McDonalds restaurant in Sweden.
The activists used a hammer to break two storefront windows and place 10 liters of gasoline inside. The gasoline was lit and caused an enormous explosive fire that casue “extensive damage” at around 5 o’ clock in the morning. The ALF claimed responsibly through the direct action website Bite Back with a statement that included unreleased details about the incident and the line: “Burn in hell animal killers and capitalists.”
The ALF attacked the empty McDonalds restaurant to send a message about the companies exploitation of animals and the environment. In 2002, McDonalds spokesmen said this about their incredibly huge resource consumption:
“We’re not only the biggest buyer of beef products, close to a billion pounds, but we also buy 500 million pounds of poultry products, 250 million pounds of pork products, over a billion pounds of french fries, 156 million dozens of eggs, and 16 million gallons of milk.”
McDonalds is the face of the highly exploitative and resource intensive fast food industry. As long McDonalds is out in front they will most likely continue to be the target of these types of attacks from environmental protection and animals rights groups. If caught, the Swedish government has said they will prosecute the activists for aggravated arson.
