Fish and Chips Fund Whale Industry.

One of the largest exporters of fish to the United States and the UK is feeling the pressure after more information about thier involvement in whale meat industry comes to the surface.
Based in Iceland, HB Grandhi exports fish all over the US and UK supplying to tens of thousands of fish and chip shops worldwide. A disturbingly large reach considering that their seemingly innocent sale of fish help the whale meat industry grow.
HB Grandhi leases their processing plant to group called Hvalur who uses the facility to process whale meat. Not only that, HB Grandhi also holds the majority investor and holds most of the available stock in the whale meat giant Hvalur. Give money to the fish industry and they invest in the whale meat trade.
Hvalur is the Iceland’s largest fin whale meat processor. The company reportedly sold 1,200 tons of endangered whale meat to Japan in 2008 and made over $7 million by doing so. They even refer to themselves as the “driving force” behind the whale meat trade.
Sadly, it is believed that there are only 30,000 fin whales left on earth today and those left are severely threatened by companies like Hvalur and their connections in the fish trade. My advice, if you don’t want to unknowingly fund the whale meat industry, skip the fish and eat the chips.
