Smash Mouth Eat Eggs For Charity.

An internet dare has turned into a full blown pledge drive and now it looks like 90s superstars Smash Mouth are going to have to eat 24 eggs in one sitting.

It started as an internet dare on Something Awful urging the band to eat two dozen eggs for $20. The matching dares came in and the total Smash Mouth stood to earn was up into the thousands. That’s when the band responded on twitter that they’d gladly eat two dozen eggs if people could raise $10,000 for St. Jude’s Research Hospital (unfortunatly, a major funder of animal testing). 

Fans sprung into action and flooded the internet with calls to action. A Causes page was started and people all over twitter and facebook were pleading with the world to donate money. Unbelievably, pledges quickly surpassed $10,000 and the band’s lead singer, Steve Harwell, will be forced is eat all the eggs by himself.

My guess, soon there will be a Causes page up to help Smash Mouth get double bypass surgery after eating two dozen cholesterol bombs in one sitting
