Politicians Eat Bear Meat in Protest.

Upon hearing that brown bears would be brought in to populate the woods of northern Italy, anti-bear politicians got their hands on some bear meat for a protest banquet.

Members of the Conservative and racist Northern League organized a bear meat banquet as a way to bring attention to the proposed brown bear introduction. Their stunt came close to success but took a nose dive when law enforcement and health department officials found that the politicians did not have a permit for the imported Slovenian bear meat filets. The meat was quickly confiscated before it could be eaten.

The ringleader of the protest, Umberto Bossi, was disappointed and said enforcement officers “spoiled the party.” The politicians were left to eat “pasta with minced-deer sauce.” Eww.

The Northern League’s message was lost in their nonsensical and illegal stunt but what they hoped to say was that they oppose the bear introduction. They feel that increasing the number of bears in northern Italy will make people scared to walk around freely. The Secretary of the Northern League told reporters that rather than seeing bears in the mountains he’d “rather see them this way [as a meal].”

What is with all the bear haters lately? Expressing your dislike for bears by holding an illegal bear meat BBQ is childish and to think that this was organized by an established political party is sad and infuriating.
