Thanks to Morrissey, Festival Goes Veg

Former Smiths frontman and last of the famous international playboys is once again making major demands of concert promoters and getting his way. Morrissey may be a diva but at least it’s for a good cause.

Morrissey left the Lokerse Feesten promoters to sweat and spend many sleepless nights waiting for the singer’s reply after they asked him to headline the festival. After nearly a month Morrissey agreed under one condition, that the entire festival serve only vegetarian food the day he performs. Surprisingly, the Lokerse promoters agreed!

The day the legend performs the festival will ditch their traditional concert fare of snails and horse meat sausages and serve vegetarian gourmet. Caterers are embracing what they call a “challenge” by coming up with ways to make hummus and red peppers appealing to the hot, sweaty, and hungry Belgian masses. I don’t see what the challenge is, sounds like the perfect food for an outdoor summer fest to me.

Morrissey is known to stand up for animals both on and off stage. He’s refused to play any shows in Canada so long as the seal slaughter continues and he famously walked off stage at Coachella after smelling cooking meat. After smelling burnt flesh he told the crowd “I hope to God it’s human.”
