Herpes Forces Rodeo Queens to Ride Stick Ponies.

Due to a widespread outbreak of horse herpes, all rodeo events involving horses in Farmington Utah have been cancelled or altered. This made for a comical scene for the junior queen competition where contestants were forced to ride stick ponies.
Contestants were judged as they travelled the course on their stick ponies. Event manager and official “posse member” Kim Jansen put a positive spin on the herpes outbreak saying the competition was “testing the girl’s knowledge and ability to adapt.” Some contestants weren’t so positive and complained that “with the stick horse, you have to do all the work.”
To me, rodeo queens riding stick ponies look just as ridiculous as they would riding a live horse. I see this as a great event that they should make permanent; the cruelty-free rodeo where people from all economic backgrounds can participate. Sounds like a grand ‘ol time to me.
