Introducing The Mobile Slaughterhouse

Introducing The Mobile Slaughterhouse

mobile slaughterhouse

We’ve all seen food trucks driving around town serving up tacos, pizza, or indian food but the latest development in the mobile “food” business might surprise you.

Introducing the mobile slaughterhouse.

In an effort to reduce the costs of trucking animals hundreds of miles from the factory farm to the slaughterhouse, a few companies have decided to bring the slaughterhouse to the farm. The standard mobile slaughterhouse is a specially designed 36-foot semi-truck complete with cleaning, killing, and carcass cooling stations.

The promotional videos available on the mobile slaughter website provide a chilling guided tour of the truck which looks more like Dexter’s kill room than a slaughterhouse. Not only do you get the tour, you get to see the unit in full operation with animals being killed and processed.

I’ve seen my fair share of slaughter videos in my time but something about these don’t sit right with me. Watching them, it’s hard to believe they are promotional videos used to sell a product and not an undercover video shot by PETA. So sterile and callus it gives me chills.

The mobile slaughterhouse is depicted as a positive step for animal welfare because it prevents animals from having to suffer the journey to a slaughterhouse. However, after researching the mobile slaughterhouse and watching the videos, I find the whole idea even more unsettling then the traditional method.

Take a look for yourself and let me know what you think. Is the mobile slaughterhouse a step in the right direction or headfirst dive off the ethical deep-end?
