Florida Investigation Ban Dead.

Florida Investigation Ban Dead.

florida undercover

The Florida bill that was set to ban the filming of factory farm abuse is officially dead. The Florida state legislative session ended this week without passing the bill, ding dong that shit is dead.

The bill would have made filming or photographing animal abuse in the state of Florida a felony crime punishable by as much as 30 years in prison.

The Humane Society of The United States commented on the bill back when it was first introduced saying it “showed just how much the [animal] industry has to hide.”

Since there is still no system in place in Florida to monitor factory farms for abuse, investigators are having to risk everything to expose the truth and bring justice to an industry that knows nothing of it.

Currently, similar bans on investigations are still being debated in Minnesota and Iowa. Hopefully the death of the proposed Florida bill will inspire other states to do the right thing and allow at least this minor form of transparency to exist.
