Is Dutch Slaughter Ban Racist?

Would you support banning the cruelest methods of animal slaughter if it meant cooperating with racists and xenophiles?  

Dutch politicians in the racist and xenophobic Freedom Party, and the animal friendly Party for Animals, have put forth a bill that would ban cruel religious animal slaughter. Religious animal slaughter is a major part of the Jewish and Islamic tradition and involves killing animals without stunning or anesthetizing. Animals have their throats cut and are bled out in accordance with religious tradition.

The main fault with the bill is the reason it exists has more to with racism than with protecting animals. The Dutch Party for Animals has accepted the support of the Freedom Party saying, “humane treatment of animals trumps traditions of tolerance.”

For people who care about animals, this might be a tough debate. We all want to see a world where NO animals are killed for food and until then we compromise by pushing for the most humane forms of slaughter. We may be tempted to support a ban on religious slaughter because it is so horrific but what are we to do when that ban has racist and anti-religious motives?
