Vegans Have Lower Risk of Cataracts.

A study done at the University of Oxford has determined that people who eat a vegetarian diet reduce their risk of getting cataracts by 40%.
The study was limited to individuals over the age of 40 and looked at the quantity of meat in test subject’s diets. It found that the less meat a person eats, the lower their risk for cataracts. Vegetarians and vegans are the lowest risk group.
Dietitian Jack Norris commented on the study saying, “it’s funny - when bad news comes out about vegan diets, news articles are quickly written and disseminated, I get to spend the day fielding emails about them. But where is the mainstream media when good news comes out about a vegan diet?”
He’s right. If this study said “bacon prevents cataracts” the media would be all over it in a heartbeat. Guess it’s up to us the get the word out about this one.
