Concentration Camp For Animals.

The Kiev Zoo is under fire and they don’t seem to mind. Since new management took over in October of 2010, nearly half the animals (over 250 to be exact) have died or mysteriously disappeared. Local Kiev animal rights activists say, “it’s no longer a zoo, it’s a concentration camp for animals.”
The bodies are piling up and the management seems to not care too much. Zoo manager Tolstoukhov said, “animals don’t live a million years. They also get sick and die.” True, but perhaps it’s how they die that’s really got people so upset.
Animals have developed illnesses from cramped unsanitary quarters, fish have died after their oxygen was shut off in their tanks, animals have starved, and wounds have become infected after failed vet care. All zoos are terrible places but most don’t have over 250 animals die in 6 months.
Through all this, Tolstoukhov hopes to attract new funders so he can buy two new elephants and 12 blue sheep. Good luck with that one.
