Brutal Halal Meat Sold in Secret.

Many meat eating Danish don’t know that the majority of the slaughter performed in their country is done in accordance with the Islamic traditions of Halal, which is seen as more agonizing and horrific than traditional Western slaughter. The Copenhagen Post revealed today that 99% of all chicken in Denmark is slaughtered Halal and only 33% of people even know it.
Halal slaughter requires that the animal experience the agony of death so animals have their throats cut and are turned upside down to drain the blood. Very few facilities use stunning before slaughter and animals are always conscious when their throats are cut. Some Imams in Denmark are even a little disappointed that some animals are stunned before killing and would like to see more animals killed without sedation.
Many people are opposed to Halal slaughter including 32% of Danes who think it should be banned entirely. Activists all over Europe are trying to stop all Halal slaughter but Muslims see Halal as part of their ‘religious freedom’ and are putting up a fight. Trade groups are backing Halal too because much of the meat slaughtered in Europe is exported to the Middle East.
Halal meat is sold widely in America but it is unknown to what extent because much of it is sold unlabeled. Americans are wary of Halal, mostly for religious reasons, but I suspect if they knew how much more brutal the method was, they’d hate it even more.
Incredibly sadistic cruelty is not a value that most people would like to associate themselves with. Once more people find out what Halal slaughter really means and how many of the animals they consume are actually killed this way, we may see and outcry of condemnation.
