Radiation May Contaminate US Milk.

Story Updated For Improved Accuracy.
As radiation from the failing Japanese nuclear reactors makes its way across the ocean and onto America’s west coast, health agencies fear that dangerous levels could appear in milk. After nuclear plant malfunctions like the one in Japan, milk supplies are closely watched for radiation exposure.
California, the world’s largest milk producing state, could have future supplies affected when radiation begins to land on grasses ingested by dairy cows. The milk council is ensuring folks that the increased levels of radiation will pose no threat to humans but historically, milk contaminated by radiation has proven to be dangerous.
In 1986, 4,000 people developed thyroid cancer after ingesting milk after the Chernobyl disaster in the Ukraine.
