Chimp Meat Served at UK Restaurants.

Restaurants in the UK have been busted for selling illegal bushmeats including Chimpanzee. The government estimates that 7,500 tons of bushmeat enter the country every year putting millions of humans at risk for infectious diseases and endangering animals in already fragile ecosystems in Africa.

Bushmeats such as Chimpanzee have been banned primarily for the health risk they pose to humans.  Chimpanzee meat has been known to spread TB, anthrax, and the ebola virus.  All diseases that put the entire human race in danger, not just the irresponsible gluttonous eater. 

Bushmeat is brought into the country labeled as “lamb” or “beef” and sold at restaurants and markets to people who ask for the “special meat.”  It is estimated that the industry generates $5 billion dollars a year in profits.
