John Hopkins Operates On Live Pigs.

John Hopkins Medical School may be violating the law by requiring medical students to operate on live pigs. The school says the live operations are essential to student learning while activists claim that it causes “unnecessary suffering and pain” and is therefore illegal.
At John Hopkins, healthy pigs are operated on to give students the chance to “feel live tissue.” Students cut the pigs open, feel around inside their body, and stitch them back up. After the pig has been used enough times they are killed and discarded.
Pigs are highly intelligent and emotional animals. They feel the pain the trauma of each unnecessary surgery and after years of suffering are only killed and discarded.
Hopkins is only 1 of 7 schools out of the 176 accredited medical schools in the US that still use live animals. This method of teaching is outdated, cruel, lacks creativity, and needs to end.
