DJ Alkimist Breaks Beats (and Hearts).

I’m swooning over this vegan DJ.  I’ve always thought that when we open up our hearts and minds to compassion, we open ourselves to the purist and most honest expressions of ourselves and unlock our true potential for creativity.  Washington, DC based musician (and vegan activist), DJ Alkimist, agrees.

Last year, DJ Alkimist was arrested outside the Canadian Embassy for protesting the Canadian seal slaughter.  Her image was splashed all across the front pages of Canadian newspapers next to images of Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.  The story was even covered on this very site (see a bloody DJ Alkimist carried off by the Secret Service).  This single act exposed thousands of people to Canada’s shameful secrets.  In this right, DJ Alkimist agrees, Canada’s club scene sucks.

Beyond her activism, DJ Alkimist is impressing people all over the DC-Area with her ability to quick mix very different song styles and genres.  She’s been on the scene for less than a year and has already received quite a bit of attention.  With her sexy vegan looks, intense and exciting stage presence, and incredible talent on the “1’s and 2’s,” DJ Alkimist is definitely one to watch on the DC club circuit.
