Texas Declares Chicken Fried Steak Day.

The Texas legislature has voted to officially recognize October 26th as Chicken Fried Steak Day in the Lone Star State.

House Resolution 1419 recognizing Chicken Fried Steak Day in Texas, passed without opposition. The bill’s text reads like a love letter to the unique entree that’s neither chicken or steak:

“WHEREAS Texans are renowned for their love of chicken fried steak, that exceptional dish that elevates the hearty flavor of beef to new heights coating it in batter and breading and frying it until its ingredients are melded in a blissful union.”

To honor the occasion, restaurants all across the state were expected to offer discounts on chicken fried steak. No word yet if there was a parade or a Miss Chicken Fried Steak pageant.

In other news, 1.4 million children in Texas are still living without health insurance.
