Fern Gully and The Truth About Animal Testing

I re-watched the children’s classic Fern Gully this weekend and realized that it is one of the COOLEST children’s cartoons ever.  The film is about humans destroying all life in the forest in order to make a profit.  The evil capitalists are stopped by a ragtag group of fairies and other forest creatures.  The film also contains messages aginst animal testing.

As good as this movie is, the best parts were edited out of the final version.  My friend Kim showed me this video of the “Batty Rap” where Batty talks about his experiences in a laboratory being tested on by scientists.  This original song even contains the line “he’s bleeding from his genitals” which was edited out so the film wouldn’t be so disturbing.

As creepy as this song is, it only captures a sample of the horrors behind animal testing.
